The Management and Operations (M&O) Stamp of Approval Human error is the leading cause of data center downtime. Uptime Institute's Management and Operations (M&O) Stamp of approval is a new tool to address and mitigate these management risks. The M&O Stamp of Approval validates the critical facilities management and operations practices of an existing data center. The M&O Stamp delivers a score-based assessment, independent of the site's design principles. Those sites that meet the criteria will be recognized with an Uptime Institute "M&O Approved" site award. M&O criteria for the award were drawn from Uptime Institute's Tier Standard: Operational Sustainability, and then reviewed and verified by an M&O Coalition composed of key stakeholders in the enterprise owner, outsourced operations, and multi-tenant industry segments. M&O identifies the behaviors and risks, independent of the data center design, to minimize human error in data centers—the leading cause of data center downtime according to Uptime Institute databases. Thank you to all the participants from last year who made the inaugural survey a huge success. |
Is your organization at risk of running out of data center capacity? Are you considering moving compute loads to the cloud, increasing virtualization investments, evaluating co-location options, or planning a new data center? Are you responsible to deliver this message and formulate a strategic plan? Today’s high IT costs and higher consequences for downtime warrant a review of the strategic plan by vendor-neutral industry experts to validate assumptions and ensure best practices. A strategic plan must incorporate both Facilities and IT infrastructure perspectives and requirements. This will ensure that the strategic solution addresses the enterprise-wide constraints—thereby facilitating executive approval. Uptime Institute’s Digital Infrastructure RoadmapTM is a robust evaluation that works to ensure the long-term performance of investment in enterprise computing. The first step is to capture the drivers in terms of business strategy, data center facilities, and IT technology. Then, validate capacity assumptions and map to optimized scenarios. The report will include actionable recommendations for capacity planning for the next 3-5 years. For more information on the unbiased Digital Infrastructure RoadmapTM, please click HERE |
The Tier Program continues to expand its offerings to support multiple industry perspectives on the Tiers. Tier Program resources include:
